2007 Honda CR-V and Pilot Earn Insurance Institute for Highway Safety TOP SAFETY PICK Award
The all-new 2007 Honda CR-V, along with the 2007 Honda Pilot, were among seven SUVs to earn 2007 Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) TOP SAFETY PICK Awards. The annual award, given to SUVs for the first time this year, recognizes vehicles that perform best in protecting passengers in front, side and rear crashes, based on their ratings in the Institute's tests. The Spallino family of Redondo Beach, California, test drove the Honda FCX Concept hydrogen fuel cell vehicle in Monterey, California, on November 14, 2006. The Spallino family is the first individual retail customer for a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle and drive a 2005 Honda FCX on a daily basis.

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., today held a demonstration drive of the next-generation FCX Concept fuel cell vehicle at the Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, California. The FCX Concept features a newly developed compact, high-efficiency Honda FC Stack as well as a low-floor, low-riding, short-nose body. It offers a comfortably large cabin and futuristic styling along with significant improvements in power output and environmental performance. VMI today announced it has begun sales of the first wheelchair accessible Honda Odyssey with the Northstar conversion. The company has completed all design, engineering and validation processes with the Honda Odyssey, which is their latest lowered floor side-entry minivan conversion. Associates at Honda Manufacturing of Alabama, LLC (HMA) today reached a production milestone at 10:25 a.m. with the completion of the 1 millionth Honda vehicle and V-6 engine built in Alabama. Honda associates Janice Lowe of Ashville, and John Chapman of Talladega, drove the Midnight Blue Pearl Metallic 2007 Odyssey EXL, off the line. The roll-off of HMA's 1 millionth vehicle comes less than five years after the start of mass production at the $1.3 billion facility on Nov. 14, 2001. Honda and Acura total vehicle sales of 110,624 for October increased 3.7 percent over last year on a daily selling rate basis, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced today. American Honda light truck sales of 52,789 led the increase with a 15.6 percent gain that broke the previous October record of 49,193 set in 2004. Sales of the all-new 2007 Honda CR-V totaled 20,413, representing an increase of 95.7 percent in its first full month of sales while shattering the previous all-time record by 3,744 units from July 2005.
